Apricot Standing in Red Wine

Apricot Standing in Red Wine

She lay wrapped–in that soft-white blanket,
imagining how warm it would be–her back against his chest,
their bodies curved around each other.
She has this addicting idea that his thumbs will fit perfectly
into the groove of her hips–his breath on her neck.
She leads him, by the hand, to her bedroom,
quietly lets him undress her. She promises to be quiet.
To be quiet enough–that no one will hear
her–naked soul.

  1. White roses sleeping in champagne

    He sits by the window,
absorbing the reflections of midnight blue.
Inhaling the molecules of her perfume,
counting the raindrops that sculpture her whispers,
their lips rhyming with the silence.

He has this vision, almost sparkling,
    how her curls chase
the naked beauty of his shoulders.
He holds her with the grip of a hunter,
letting her lean into the sands of his eyes.

He dishevels the rhythm of her heart,
fierce, with the touch of a moonlight,
just enough to show her the essence of love …

WISHING YOU ALL THE HAPPINESS HALLOWEEN DAY CAN BRING
GOOD LUCK, GOOD HEALTH, GOOD FORTUNE AND THE BEST OF EVERYTHING!

    Regards Tracey

    • It’s all good Tracey. I totally understand. Thank you, and thank you for the, whatever they call the things people make with the keyboard, I love them, I wish I had the patience to make them. I have a concrete poem from lit class called Swan and Shadow, I will have to see if I can find it and leave it for you. I had a very hard time reformating it from a pdf and trying to get it to paste correctly. I got it to work on our discussion board but I have never tried it anyplace else. I hope you get to feeling better and thank you so much for thinking about me.

  4. Wow! Charles, this poem is beautiful and so is the image on this post. Well done! Hope you are well. Just stopping in to say thanks for your lovely gifts and messages. Trying to catch up on all my messages, but I will be back to read more of you beautiful poetry. Take care and have a great week ahead.

    Love, Peace, Happiness
    Bev

    • Thank you for all yours as well, Bev. Catching up can be a bit of a chore. You’re more than welcome to stop by anytime and read or use any of my posts that you like. I hope you have a wonderful week.

  5. I think it has a sense of–helplessness, if not hopelessness. Hopefully. It’s one of those poems you really have to read between the lines and make the connection to the title so figured out what it alludes to. There is more symbolism going on here than meets the eye, and yet I am not at liberty to confess them.

    However, therein lies the mystique.

  6. a feeling of carnal certainty, tho’ one sided… and here I looked at your answering comment to ‘enreal’ and wonder what I’m missing… beside the obvious… (and therein lies the rub) xPenx

  7. It’s all about allusion and symbolism. If we read the verse, for what it’s worth, then go back and look at the title–a single piece of fruit soaking in wine. What does that make you think of?

This is similar to my poem Intimacy. However, there is a darker sense of longing.

    I hope.

  8. Hello Charles, thank you for your interesting comments
and the great video, I really enjoyed.
I love the poetry of the Spanish language, especially Octavio Paz
and Jorge Luis Borges. I also write poems, but honestly,
I could not do a very good translation into English.
    But I can try …
Yes I do my own pictures, I edit and make collages
for a visual language of my self. This is my
    passion …
    And also I like Neruda.
I’ll try to find any translation for the English of language poems
    Spanish, ok?
I hope your weekend is wonderful
and wish you a lovely night~~hugs

  9. IS IT light this substance that birds traverse?

In the quaking of silica are deposited quartz and splinters polished by vertigo.
    You feel

the moan of the ocean. Later,

    cold of limits.
    (Antonio Gamoneda)
